June 1st Games

June 1st:

The Yankees played the Indians. Joba Chamberlain was amazing. Eight innings pitched with two earned runs. The hero of the game was Nick Swisher who hit a double off the left field wall which gave the Yankees the lead. That was very dramatic. The double that Swisher hit was about a foot from being a grand slam. Victor Martinez, on the Indians, had a homerun in the 4th inning to give the Indians their first run. While watching Sportscenter, Chamberlain got the number one play of the day. On that play, Joba dove, face first, caught the ball and then threw it to second base for the double play.

The Mets gave up the lead in the 8th inning with J.J. Putz on the mound. I think J.J. Putz has to find some groove to get him going, and the Mets bullpen needs some too. If the Mets would have held on to the lead, Francisco Rodriguez would have closed out the game.

The Orioles and Mariners played, and Ichiro extended hitting streak to 25 games and Adam Jones broke his bat three times. WOW!

Many teams were off, like the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers.
